Currently we are in great need of ENGLISH>ICELANDIC EMA SUBMISSIONS resources. If you have any experience in this content and language pair, please contact me! But only contact me if you have experience with ICELANDIC; I will post any other languages we may need at a later time, until then, please do not send useless messages. We ask for resources with the following qualifications:

* At least 2 years’ experience with medical translation
* At least 2 years’ experience with EMA Submission materials
* Strong familiarity with EMA QRD templates
* The ability to use Track Changes feature in Microsoft Word
* A strong attention to detail
** Preferably Word 2003 or 2000, as we are not yet sure of possible Word 2007 and 2010 compatibility issues**

For those of you that fit the criteria and can Translate EN>Icelandic, would you mind answering the following questions at your earliest convenience, so that I may get a better idea of your translation
experience? I would greatly appreciate it!

•         In what language pair(s) do you offer medical translation services?
•         Please confirm your native language.
•         How many years of medical translation experience do you have?
•         What is your average weekly volume (number of words) for translation?
•         Do you work with a translation tool such as Trados or TagEditor?
If so, what version(s) do you use?
•         Please provide a sample list of medical jobs you have translated in the past 6 months. We are interested in specific examples -- types of projects and approximate volumes that you have translated or edited.
Please include information such as what was translated, the medical specialty involved, word count (estimate), etc.

•         Please also describe your experience editing and/or proofing others' translations.
•         Please provide references.

Aðalfundur ÞOT 16. maí

 

 

Aðalfundur Bandalags þýðenda og túlka verður haldinn í Gunnarshúsi, húsi Rithöfundasambands Íslands að Dyngjuvegi 8, miðvikudaginn 16. maí  kl. 20.

Á dagskrá eru venjuleg aðalfundarstörf, skýrsla stjórnar, samþykkt reikninga og stjórnarkjör. Kjósa þarf tvo stjórnarmenn að þessu sinni. Haraldur Jóhannsson ritari og Gunnhildur Stefánsdóttir meðstjórnandi hafa ákveðið að gefa ekki kost á sér til áframhaldandi stjórnarsetu svo ljóst er að nýtt fólk mun koma inn í stjórnina. Framboð í stjórn hafa borist og verða kynnt á fundinum.

Jón Kalman Stefánsson rithöfundur fjallar í Fréttatímanum 27. apríl um gildi þýðinga, gildi þýðinga íslenskra bókmennta yfir á önnur tungumál. Heilsíðugrein, bls. 38.

Bandalag þýðenda og túlka gerir verðlaunaafhendingunni skil.

Íslensku þýðingaverðlaunin 2012

Bandalag þýðenda og túlka veitir Íslensku þýðingaverðlaunin 2012 við hátíðlega athöfn á  Gljúfrasteini á Degi bókarinnar, mánudaginn 23. apríl, kl. 14. Fimm þýðingar eru tilnefndar til verðlaunanna að þessu sinni og segir svo um þær í umsögn dómnefndar:

Andarsláttur eftir Hertu Müller. Þýðandi: Bjarni Jónsson. Útgefandi: Ormstunga. „Vandasöm þýðing á gagnmerku skáldverki sem er skilað með sóma.“

Fásinna eftir Horacio Castellanos Moya. Þýðandi: Hermann Stefánsson. Útgefandi: Bjartur. „Áhugavert bókmenntaverk þar sem þýðanda tekst með ágætum að fylgja stíl frumtextans í blæbrigðaríkum íslenskum texta.“

Regnskógabeltið raunamædda eftir Claude Lévi-Strauss. Þýðandi: Pétur Gunnarsson. Útgefandi: JPV útgáfa. „Sígilt verk sem stendur eiginlega utan flokka, meira en fræðirit og annað en skáldskapur. Þýðingin er einkar læsileg og fangar afar vel flókið efni á kjarngóðri íslensku.“

Reisubók Gúllívers eftir Jonathan Swift. Þýðandi: Jón St. Kristjánsson. Útgefandi: Mál og menning. „Myndarleg útgáfa á sígildu bókmenntaverki sem nýtur sín vel á gullaldaríslensku.“

Tunglið braust inn í húsið. Ljóð eftir marga höfunda. Þýðandi: Gyrðir Elíasson. Útgefandi: Uppheimar. „Magnað stórvirki með ljóðlist úr ýmsum heimshornum. Heillandi og
fagmannlega færð í íslenskan búning.“

Katrín Jakobsdóttir menntamálaráðherra afhendir verðlaunin. Athöfnin er öllum opin og verður boðið upp á léttar veitingar.
